The Humboldt Permaculture Guild Cob Oven Workshop

Learn how to build your own cob oven!

This workshop will cover design, site placement, foundation, and base, clay analysis cob making, and clay plastering. Workshop attendees will participate in the hands-on building of the cob oven and plastering. 

Day 1

  • Designing the foundation

  • Testing soil for cob building

  • Cob oven design

  • Building the sand form

  • Mixing cob + building the first cob oven layer

Day 2

  • Removing the sand form

  • Insulating the oven using natural and recycled materials

  • Mixing finish earthen plasters and applying them to the oven

  • Cob oven cooking techniques 

Taught by Levon Durr
Levon is a certified permaculture teacher and has been studying natural building for over 20 yrs.
